Assets: How to transition from current alarm settings to standardized asset alarm settings

Modified on Tue, 18 Mar at 1:19 PM

Curious how to make the transition from current alarm settings to standardized alarm settings using assets? Check it out below. The transition is done in five easy steps:

  1. Set-up asset alarms
  2. Set-up asset types
  3. Link asset types to sensors
  4. Delete 'old' custom alarms
  5. Add recipients

1. Set-up asset alarms

Create one or multiple asset type alarms. Simply go to:

  1. Go to Manage Sensors
  2. Go to the tab Asset alarms
  3. Go to Add profile

Follow the three steps to complete the profile. Make sure to supply at least one asset type alarm per planned asset type. A few examples are:

  1. Refrigerator (7°C)
  2. Refrigerator (4°C)
  3. Freezer (-18°C)

2. Set up asset types

Once the asset alarm is set-up, the asset type can be created. This is easily done:

  1. Go to Manage sensors
  2. Go to the tab Sensors
  3. Go button Manage assets at the top left
  4. Go to Add asset type

Add an asset type by giving it a name and by selecting an alarm profile (E.g. the one that was just created). Press save to create it.

3. Link asset types to sensors

Once the asset alarm is set-up, the asset type can be created. This is easily done:

  1. Go to Manage sensors
  2. Go to the tab Sensors
  3. Search for the correct sensor and go to Actions -> Edit sensor
  4. Select an asset type
  5. Press save & continue (don't click away the pop-up, since step 4 continues from here)

Do this for each sensor.

4. Delete old alarm profiles

Once the changes are saved the next screen will be shown. All

linked alarm profiles for that sensor are shown. This will consist  out of the alarm profiles based on the asset type, but if the sensor already had an alarm profile it will also consist out of a custom alarm profile. These are recognized by two items:

  1. In the third column is shown whether it is an alarm based on an asset type or custom alarm. This shows custom.
  2. The trashcan in front of an alarm. Alarm profiles based on asset types can't be deleted (so these have a toggle)

Make sure to delete the custom alarm profile(s) (by pressing the trashcan in front) so no alarms are received double. Do this for each sensor. Don't click away the pop-up, since step 5 continues from here.

5. Add recipients

As shown on the previous image, there is a button Manage recipients. Select this button and from there select the button Add recipients. Press Save as soon as all recipients are selected.

The set-up is now done. If an alarm blocking was set on alarm level, make sure to add that again.
