Ensuring matching sensor temperatures

Description

Please consult our article Quick start guide for installation instructions. Temperatures of an Automated Temperature Monitoring system, such as RmoniWeb, are accurate using calibrated probes. But the reading can deviate from the reading on a display of the cooling equipment due to the physical location of the two probes.

As a general rule: Locate the probe of the cooling machine and/or display and try to instal the automated probe as close as possible.

This may be impractical, impossible or even irrelevant when the probe is not measuring where food is stored. In that case, install the automated probe in the hottest spot where the food is stored. Note that temperatures may deviate from the display but should be considered correct. If you are not sure where exactly to place the sensors, then follow the guidelines below based on some example installations:

  1. Example 1: Walk-in freezer
In this example, the main freezer probe was clearly visible and labelled. It was conveniently located to the right of the cooling machine. No products are stored here, but it is a relevant spot measuring the return air.
So the RmoniWeb probe can be located next to it as follows:

  2. Example 2: Salad fridge
In the second example, a standard cooler is presented. This equipment blows cold air from the top into the holding area, and sucks the return air back into the top at the opposite site.

Installing the RMONO at the opposite site in the Return air results in good correlation of the temperatures.
